SG1: Season 5
Episode 98: Just Watch The Mummy Instead (The Tomb)
Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5, Episode 8, “The Tomb”. This is not a favorite and is heavily reliant on the drama of the Cold War. Silvana and Tegan come up with several ways this plot could have been more interesting. While dull, this episode does pass the Bechtdel Test. And Peter Deluise directed while no one was bedridden! Congrats, Peter!

Episode 96: The Child of Sam and Janet (Rite of Passage)
Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5, Episode 6 "Rite of Passage". This episode brings back the character Cassandra but played by the actress from "Bane".. Check out our episode on "Singularity" ("The Distant Land of Toronto") and "Bane" ("Get Jeff Goldblum! We've Got A Bug Transformation Problem!"). This episode reminds both ladies of the first X-Men movie. Someone is in a bed the whole episode, so of course Peter DeLuise directs.

Episode 95: The Elves of Midgard (Red Sky)
Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5 Episode 5 "Red Sky", the inferior cousin to "Scorched Earth." SG-1 accidentally messes up a planet's sun, threatening their planet and existence. The people on the planet just happen to believe that the Asgard are their gods and they aren't too ready to be told they worship false gods and need to evacuate the planet. Why didn't Teal'c have something to say about a society worshipping false gods? Why is it always about Jack and Daniel? The Asgard won't help, even though it's pretty unlikely the goa'uld are monitoring this 24/7. We meet the Asgard council for the first time and they aren't the biggest fans of Jack. The science in this episode seemed especially made up, unfortunately even amazingly talented Amanda Tapping couldn't pull off making it seem legit. But of course, everything was fixed in the end...but was it the Tauri, or was it the Asgard? We may never know.

Episode 94: The Reol World (The Fifth Man)
Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5, Episode 4 "The Fifth Man". If only they had made this the fifth episode!! The SG-1 team has a fifth member, or does it? An alien has convinced them that he is an injured member of their team in need of help. Will we ever see this race again??? Absolutely not. What if Simmons was a Reol? Silvana and Tegan come up with a great story line for the Reol race.

Episode 93: An Ascended Being Maxed Out My Credit Cards (Ascension)
Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5, Episode 3 "Ascension". In this episode an ascended being takes a shine to Sam and hitches a ride home so he can stalk her. If he stalks her long enough, will she love him? YES?! This Sam-centric episode has some great scenes: Teal'c in a cowboy hat, for example. However, even Amanda Tapping's great acting and Jack not into Star Wars can make up for all the scenes in which we are screaming. Silvana learns what she's supposed to say back to "live long and prosper". Tegan is shamed for not bringing a towel places. Silvana proposes having an onsite therapist at the SG-C for crewmembers and psychological analyses of aliens they encounter. What do you think?

Episode 92: The Exorcism of Teal'c (Threshold)
Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5, Episode 2 "Threshold". Silvana questions if Bae'tac has a life insurance policy out on Teal'c after this episode.Tegan does not recommend candles around oxygen tanks. Just a PSA for our lovely listeners. How does no one at the SG-C know Lord of the Rings well enough to recognize the name Va'lar? As usual, the ladies ask the hard hitting questions.

Episode 91: A Tease of An Episode (Enemies)
Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5, Episode 1 "Enemies". This is the second part of a three parter, that the ladies are not fans of. Silvana and Tegan brainstorm some better storylines where the main drive of the plot isn't Teal'c being brainwashed. This episode gets the highest marks yet for technical quality.
